Dmitry Rachmanov, Chair of the Keyboard Department, CSU Northridge “The Master and the Pupil: Recording the Complete Four-Hand Piano Works by Beethoven and Three of His Principal Teachers”
During the last decade there has been an increasing interest in historical performance practice involving scholarship and performance on period instruments. Concerts and recordings on original period keyboard instruments are part of this movement. The pianist Dmitry Rachmanov will talk about his recent experiences of discovering, performing and recording, in collaboration with the New York-based pianist Cullan Bryant, the complete works for piano four-hands by Ludwig van Beethoven and three of his principal teachers: Christian Gottlob Neefe, Johann Georg Albrechtsberger and Franz Joseph Haydn.
